Miami - Miami Beach Bay Link

Miami Bay Link

The Miami-Dade MPO has recently completed a reevaluation of the Miami-Miami Beach Transportation Corridor Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The Miami-Miami Beach Transportation Corridor was part of the LPA segment of the East-West Multimodal Corridor DEIS.

The corridor generally extends from downtown Miami across the MacArthur Causeway to south Miami Beach and northward as far as the Miami Beach Convention Center. The transportation linkages will be coordinated with existing infrastructure (i.e., intermodal terminals, transit centers and services, fixed guide way and roadway facilities, and pedestrian and bikeway paths).

On September 26, 2003, a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) was adopted by the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

In May 2004, the Miami-Dade County MPO will begin Phase 2 of the Bay Link study for a light rail transit (LRT) connection between downtown Miami and South Beach. Phase 2 includes the station area planning process which includes public and stakeholder meetings to determine location and design preferences for future stations.

Two rounds of public meetings are scheduled for station area groups on both Miami Beach and in downtown Miami. The first round of station meetings will  consist of a presentation outlining station types and requirements followed by an open discussion to determine station location and design considerations. The second round of meetings will provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the resulting station area plans which will serve as the foundation for the preliminary engineering as the project continues. Please click on the graphic below to see which station area group represents your future stations.
