Everglades on the Bay, a condominium community consisting of two 49-story tis now completed. The contemporary-style, mixed-use Everglades on the Bay project feature 870 condominiums and 69,000 sf of ground-floor retail space. It was developed at the site of the former 376-room Everglades Hotel, built in 1925. In its heyday, the landmark Everglades Hotel in downtown Miami was considered all the rage. Located across Biscayne Boulevard from Bayfront Park, the hotel offered spectacular views of the city skyline and of the bay. The years, however, have not been so kind to the old hotel, which sputtered along through numerous owners and renovations. Still, while the building itself--built in 1926--has become something of an eyesore, the property's location continues to intrigue. In 2004 the Everglades Hotel was once again sold--to Cabi Developers, LLC, the US division of Gixsa, one of Mexico's leading real estate companies. Developer Jacobo Cababi (one of the three brothers who own Gixsa) has now erected a contemporary mixed-use condominium project on the site. In a nod to the past, the property is called Everglades on the Bay.

The Everglades hotel was one of the oldest hotels in Miami-Dade County had been sold in 2004 stopped taking reservations 6 months later. The new owners, Cabi Developers, an Aventura-based subsidiary of GICSA of Mexico, razed the 77-year old building and replace it with the commercial and condominium tower of Everglades on the Bay.
With the Performing Arts Center and all the new development in downtown, CABI wanted to acquire customers that live and work in downtown for the Everglades on the Bay project. The company also built the towers on Aventura's Turnberry Isle.
